Preparing the Cooking Area
I have been excited about my launch with Shef. Today I spent the day organizing my cooking area and organizing my sauces and marinades on a shelf I installed over my kitchen island that I can relocate upon my needs for convenience. And the biggest thing I worked on that required the most effort is that I accomplished the task of buying new organizers for my floor cabinets in the kitchen. I decided to organize my dried canned vegetables, fruits, and miscellaneous chutneys and varieties of pastes in organizers in the bottom half of my kitchen cabinets. I still left my most used items in the wall cabinets at the top of my kitchen. I rearranged some spices to have spice drawers, deciding not to store the cutlery in drawers anymore. I cleared a buffet table of cans and voila! I have space back to see my kitchen and not feel overwhelmed with the clutter. Everything has a clear, defined area and I have an organized space. I have my kitchen split into two areas as the dining area stores my extras in such as way that I can use the deck's sliding glass doors for natural sunlight during the day and a view of fairy lights at night. I use the room as a sunroom too with comfy seating for reading. I have plants and a place to put my feet up and relax whether I am just beginning my day or ending it. It is important to have a place to do this everyday as necessary for a balance between work and home.
It is important for every cook to have a kitchen where they know where everything is and quickly find it with a plan for what they will cook and how. I have lined up my smaller appliances on the countertop. And I have placed the larger appliances where I can see; choosing to remove them from the floor cabinets where I placed canned foods. That way, I can see my appliances in my buffet and use them accordingly without forgetting about them behind closed cabinet doors. It makes my day easier planning time to cook and the biggest plus is that I can quickly rinse the appliances before use.
I hope that when you are interested in cooking one dish or many, that you too find these tips helpful and choose your own unique solution to organization tips for the kitchen as each storage space is unique. Each cook needs to know where there utensils, pots, and pans are organized; not just their spices. Happy cooking this holiday season from Rhia's Halal Mediterranean.
